The biggest concern for the Indianapolis Colts over the past couple of months and during the current NFL preseason has been the health and recovery of four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning. With Manning’s rehab taking much longer than predicted to come back from surgery that he had on his neck, the Colts have been very concerned about their quarterback situation with the NFL regular season just around the corner.
The Indianapolis Colts do have two backup quarterbacks currently on the roster that they thought would be able to carry the load in Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky, but that hasn’t been the case as both QBs have been awful in the first two weeks of the NFL preseason. With that being the case, the Colts have been searching for a veteran quarterback to come in and shoulder the load while Peyton Manning continues his rehab.
Reportedly, the Indianapolis Colts have found their man in veteran quarterback Kerry Collins. After the NFL lockout ended, Kerry Collins officially retired from the NFL and was thought to be done with the game after failing to agree to terms with the Tennessee Titans.
Apparently, the Colts offer was too good to pass up and who can blame him to accepting it with receivers like Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark to throw to. It is still uncertain how long it will take to get Peyton Manning ready for the NFL regular season, but the Colts have brought in Kerry Collins just in case the rehab cuts into the regular season.
Hopefully, for the sake of Manning’s 227 consecutive starts streak and the Colts getting off to good start, the superstar quarterback can get healthy in the next two weeks, but if not the Colts will most likely making Collins the Week 1 starter under center.
